These are among the best carbs ever made for the Model T Ford for performance. They run very well, good acceleration, smooth idle and only one simple adjustment.
The carburetor business competition was pretty brutal by the mid 1920's and Zenith needed a carb to compete with Stromberg's OF and some of the other high zoot carbs of the day. This was their answer. Their earlier carbs mounted to the Ford manifold and had inherent problems like most of the intake mount designs did. They brought out this updraft with its own manifold and it was serious competition. They sold quite well, although never in the numbers that the Stromberg OF did. If you want to go fast and not be fooling with the gas adjustment all the time, this is what you need. Zoom Zoom!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Zenith!!!!!!!!!!
This one is as nice as I have ever seen, the throttle shaft is tight, the choke shaft is tight, the jets are nice, and it has the correct Zenith Manifold that has not been ground out to a larger size like so many of them have.
This one is completely rebuilt, modern needle and seat conversion with Viton tipped needle for no leaks, newly machined aluminum Venturi, manifold powder coated, test run and ready to mount. Hook up the gas line and go. Like always, guaranteed to fit and run right.
I have only seen half a dozen of these since I started working on carbs, this is the only one I've had for sale for about two years.
There are a lot of similar Zeniths around but they are not this design. This was built for the Ford car, most of the others -- the S0-4 is a very common one -- were on Chevrolet and Willys and they do not fit or run as well as this model. This has the throttle shaft set the correct way, the original Ford throttle shaft hooks right up to it and the choke rods hook up correctly.
In the 1970's Eldon Townsend made a manifold from aluminum that was very similar to the Zenith manifold for the S4BF. It had an added arm to run the throttle arm on the S0-4 so those carbs could be used on T's. They come up on ebay and at swap meets these days but are NOT original Zenith manifolds and they are not as good a carb as the S4BF is. They are, however, far better than any of the stock T carbs. It will liven up your T. Rebuilt, with the manifold, ready to bolt on and run. CALL TO SEE WHAT I HAVE AVAILABLE.
Shipping is $25 anywhere in the US and $50 anywhere else in the world. That includes insurance.
This is an original one with patina. It will be rebuilt and ready to run, but not cleaned or polished on the outside. I think it looks great like this. This one sold, I haven't had a chance to take a photo of the one currently available.
This one is sold and long gone to a speedster guy
